His body was never found"</p><p>&nbsp;"he enlisted in the army in may, 1943; trained for over a year; and landed in Holland in october 1944.</p><p>&nbsp;Walter was well liked by family and friends; however, speaking was always a challenge for him because he would stutter. Before leaving home for the last time, he said goodbye to his family in a unique way. He gave them "forget-Me-Not" flowers as a rememberance of his departure.</p><p>&nbsp;The Dutch people remeber Walter at a memorial at Groesbeek Cemetery."</p>
